Opting a new face and rather a go-slow style of the strike has been a proper solution for the teachers, at least for the present.
After a stormy meeting which ended prematurely as a result of calling off the strike announcement made by the president of the teachers’ union, Teachers all over Tanzania have decided to hold their anger a little down.
This doesn’t say teachers are in the class room teaching, NO! They have just decided to choose this situation to prevent further worsening of the situation, I call them polite people. But they aren’t teaching.
As far as the profession is concerned, Teaching is so vital, and if we really want to develop in all aspects, we should all keep our two eyes wide open to them. Because if holders of this profession are in trouble then all the economy is in trouble, and we shouldn’t expect any development to speed up. Seeing teachers fighting for their right physically is not an easy scene, and it basically shows they cant hold any more, they are badly oppressed. THERE IS NO GOOD ECONOMY WITHOUT TEACHERS
Considering this situation which is prevailing now and referencing many others associated with this which happened lately, I can conclusively say Tanzania is no longer the old calm Nation we used to know in those days. It is taking a new course which holds no future for its inhabitants
We used to see students and small business people(wamachinga) stricking, now even teachers!!!! No joke man
It seems nothing is ok in this nation anymore, from the class to the markets, everyone is now feeling a painful pinch caused by the poor administration of the counry and poor accountability of the government officials, famously known as UFISADI.
Many have been said about this brutal attitude of the leaders towards National resources. Even the founder of the Nation, Late Nyerere whom we are remembering his death in this week cursed this dirty attitude in a number of meetings, that entertaining UFISADI will lead to serious trouble of the nation which is now clearly revealed in the present.
I’m not in a position to conclude, I invite all as intellectuals to throw your comment on this topic particularly on how to alleviate this problem.
